So, i got hired for a minimum wage job as a cashier for a supermarket chain, first job. The branch i'm at is the same one i always shop at because its a block away from my house, this is a relevant detail. Mandatory apology for formatting and not being a native english speaker.
In theory i got hired from 4:30 till closing, but actually for some reason this branch actually works rotating shifts. I dont have class for now, but it's disruptive because i have, you know, a life, and also i feel like i deserve not being lied to about my shifts. Originally both in the form i filled and the interviews i told them i could only work on the afternoons and evenings, and they told me i would work either 4 or 6 hours until closing. And because my contract doesnt really mention the hours i'd be working, i dont think i can legally do much. I also discovered i absolutely despise retail work, even though the clients arent that bad and its technically not hard to do, but maybe i just need to warm up more.
My trial contract is until march, staying in my branch until the 30th of this month, if they like me and they can keep me, they will, if they cant keep me, theyll send my form back to the company so they can give me another branch to work at. This last scenario is good because if they assign me another branch i can just say no, but obviously i can't assure they wont be able to keep me, although i overheard my managers say i was in place of someone else, but im not sure whether they took PTO, left, got fired, etc.
Maybe it's a stupid concern and just my social anxiety speaking, but i'm afraid it'd be awkward to shop there having quit just a few days after starting, so i want to be bad enough that they dont wanna hire me permanently, but not so bad it may cause me big trouble. Because i'm on a trial contract its almost the same if i quit or get fired, but being a regular there makes a big difference in me not wanting to quit.
So, being new the managers will probably look a lot to see how i do, so i might not be able to not scan items (although i'll try to sneak one or two if someone takes a lot of one thing), what are some things i can do to make me unhireable? i was thinking of being slow, but that alone will probably not be enough to get “fired”, so im asking for help here
