How should I go about quitting?

Hi all, I want to quit my job. I've put up with it for, honestly, much longer than I thought I would (management sucks) and I'm sick of it there. I like my coworkers and I am sorry to leave them, but it's time to move on. I have a better new job that I've already started. Hi all,

I want to quit my job. I've put up with it for, honestly, much longer than I thought I would (management sucks) and I'm sick of it there. I like my coworkers and I am sorry to leave them, but it's time to move on. I have a better new job that I've already started.

I am looking for advice as to how I should do this quitting process… it is a big retail company and I work pretty minimal hours, so it's not like it's a particularly important gig. I am young and this has been my first job. I am not scheduled for another shift for a week, so I was thinking I might just send an email within the next couple of days saying something along the lines of “This is my notice of resignation effective immediately, I will not be available for my scheduled shifts on 12/23 and 12/24, I appreciate our time together and wish you all the best”.

Does that seem fine? I don't want to outright burn bridges but I cannot bring myself to work a single shift more. Is there any reason I would need to use them as a reference in the future? (I get along very well with my new job's management so will almost certainly be able to get a good reference from them whenever I move on in the future). Overall any thoughts for a teenager quitting their first job, haha? Thanks in advance.
