The grand strike: how feasible is it?

On the top posts of today, there was a man quoting about how humanity was doomed. That the planet was on a path, and the only way forward was to watch the end of humanity at the hands of the elites. Glancing through the comments, I saw one response that didn’t fill me with dread. Take back power from the upper class. Unionize and seize what power the masses can. I wondered, how large of a strike would we need. How much of a workforce would we need to go on strike to bring the economy of not only America, but the whole world stage? Can such a movement generate the change needed to shift the feeling of impending doom? Please, any and all discussion is welcome.
