You all may remember I made this post two months back:
https://www.reddit.com/r/antiwork/comments/xy9mcs/leaving_on_time_amiright/
Well, I just turned in my two week's notice for a job closer to home.
The vice president walked into my office to talk about my (honest) thoughts about the company and how they were a “slap in the face” after she mentored me and took me under her wing. She was also very upset that after I was given all this training that I would be so vocal about my unhappiness.
I shit you not, friends: her being my mentor is a bold-faced lie. This woman has not once attempted to be anything more than my boss. The most she has attempted to get to know me is when she asks how my vacation was. My REAL mentor left this company after this same VP continuously tried to undermine and minimize her efforts for the company. My VP also told me that my harsh criticism of the company was an insult to my teammates and leadership, and that it was really mean of me to be so degrading towards them.
Let me be clear: my coworkers are great. But yes, leadership does suck (see my previous post – or when my boss nearly formally reprimanded me for a spreadsheet having a miscolored cell on it), and I did state that.
As for training… Well, yes. They did train me. As any company does with a new employee. They didn't send me to extra classes or pay for a retreat or anything that gives them the right to say I owe them loyalty or positive words.
Here's hoping the next company is better.
