I came in late one day so I could take our 3 happy + healthy pups to a vaccine clinic. I had let my boss know 2 weeks prior, put it on the calendar, and had it 100% approved. We can afford full veterinary care but why would I pay 80$ for a vaccine at my vet when Tara has it available for 25$? (I digress)
The big issue is that my job only offers 40 hours of PTO. This could be applied to personal days OR sick days BUT you have only the 40 hours. It's December and I had used up my PTO due to COVID so this entire morning was unpaid (much like any other time I was sick this year).
So I'm sitting in this line at the clinic and since it's not going as fast as he'd like it to my boss decides to provide financial advice where no one ASKED.
It's BOLD coming from someone who CAN'T afford to give their employees benefits, CAN'T afford to give people raises, who CAN'T afford to give people more than 5 days of PTO… “maybe running a business is not financially sustainable” JUST A THOUGHT.
I try not to let things like this bug me but come ON this is out of line no?
