So, I finished my job in hospitality (after a few months) tonight! A weird mixture of relief, sadness, but also ended on a sour note.
A few weeks in my manager went from liking me to disliking me. I was told this by approx 3 diff people, and others made comments on why they didn’t understand why they and other supervisors were so harsh on me and made an example of me over text and person, even when I had only been there for a short period.
Anyway, after finding this out a month ago I had a little cry but then got over it! I don’t like this job, I never see my friends etc… and weirdly I think someone said something as I got treated far kindly by the people in question a few days after.
But tonight as my last night I realised perhaps this was actually a ruse? A few women in particular which I had heard don’t like me were making faces and not so discreet comments (they didn’t intend for me to hear, but I did). One of which was “miss congeniality”.
Since when has it been a bad thing to be kind and easygoing to everyone you work with? I’m not trying to bite back and I’m just here to do my job and get paid.
Bear in mind one of these people who was bitching was my manager. She never once brought up what I did wrong / why she didn’t like me on a professional or personal note.
God I hate cliquey work groups made of insecure people. Thank god it was my last day. And 3 people have left in the last month.
Sending love to all with shitty managers and bitchy co-workers. They really can change how you feel at work and in yourself. Fuck
