So… The week after Thanksgiving, we were all given $50 cash and a hand written note as a “thank you” for our work. We get it every year at around the same time. Something that I never considered until this year, however is what happens next.
The 2nd week of December, the “HR” rep comes around and asks for a $50 donation for the company owner to pool together to buy him a xmas gift. It's not mandatory but expected.
He gives us $50 to turn around and have HR ask us for the same as a donation for a xmas gift as a thanks to him. Mind you he can afford a 2nd apartment just as a personal gym closer to the office and other exorbitant shit like that.
Oh to wrap it all up. The office is closed over the holidays so everyone gets it off with no pay and no opportunity to use vacation or sick pay during that time.
I'm so glad I've always said no. But damn.
