Don't know if this belongs here tbh.
Work's time off policy has changed a couple times over the years but the recent update has people mad.
Previously to this the calloff system did not effect your vacation time. You would accumulate points based on hours missed after your paid personal time was up.
3 days of paid personal, your vacation time, and 7 points til you were fired. Points equalled out to half a point for less than an hour, 1 points if you missed longer than an hour.
The new system is PTO set by how long you've worked, earned in quarterly increments. Any time you call off, take unplanned time off in their words, it automatically pays out from your PTO and accumulates points based on how much time is missed.
The safety net they set is 3 emergency calloffs that you can use for anything and for any length but it still eats your PTO.
The standard FML and Unpaid Absence applications are available.
Is this good or bad? Are my coworkers overreacting?
