coworkers who live and breathe their jobs…how do you deal with them?

I work with a coworker who made a few comments about coming in late and never having been late their whole career. He is the type of guy who lives to work and has been working at the same company for almost 30 years. I on the other hand am late every now and then. When I’m late I’m talking maybe 5 or 10 minutes nothing crazy. He has sort of passively said these comments to me I believe indirectly trying to shun me or whatnot. . I feel like most people just have a different view of their jobs and let it dictate their lives entirely… if I wake up one day and I’m driving to work and I’m in the mood for Starbucks or something I’ll stop and add a few minutes to my commute… I don’t feel like I should have to suffer and neglect myself to be at work by a certain time? I prioritize myself…I really think there is just psychologically different about most of these people ?

I usually actually leave late while most other people will leave exactly when the clock strikes 5…

Just curious??
