I'm quitting my job this Friday after not being able to afford to take my certification exam anymore. I took it five times and failed all five times so I'm taking the L and leaving this Friday. I put in my two weeks notice and went on about my way. My boss came up to me this morning and asked if I could be convinced to stay a little longer past my two weeks because he just realized that being down a body could be detrimental to the plant. I covered morning shift and did most if not all of our calibrations throughout the week, not to mention being an integral part of our big maintenance projects. But now that I'm leaving (after subtle threats of being fired due to lack of passing my test), he's realized that there is quite literally no wiggle room in the schedule because we don't have enough people for coverage. So if someone in rotation takes off, there's no one else to cover the shifts because day shift now needs to be accounted for with me leaving.
I told him i will be clocking out at 4pm on Friday and i will not return to that plant ever unless i need a water sample tested. Figure it out.
