I recently reported a major safety concern at work (the building could have collapsed if nothing was done) and then requested a transfer when the party responsible remained on the job. Now my current employer called my old bosses boss to get what feels like “dirt” on me to prevent a transfer. There is no documentation of the things the old boss is alleging and I have documentation of good performance at work. They also wrote me up on the context of the old boss’s information after missing a deadline without ever being given a date of completion.
I am trying to poke holes in my story to see if I would be protected by the whistleblower laws before I spend money talking to a lawyer about this.
Edit: my old boss and last position are within the same company.
