Employer is forcing me to use my PTO when I could be working.

If anyone needs to know, this is happening in Michigan, USA. My car just got messed up and I have to have it towed to a mechanic tomorrow. I live a 25-30 minute drive from work, so obviously without a car I can't get there. Luckily, I'm set up to work from home when necessary. Unluckily, the company's new work from home policy states that they get to decide whether or not we are allowed to work from home on any specific day depending on if they “need” us. This decision is left entirely up to our manager, who I will call Kim. I'm being allowed to work from home tomorrow since I am the only member of my team that will be working, but Kim has already hinted strongly that she will be forcing me to use PTO for any additional time I will need. Other coworkers have been allowed to work for home for simpler reasons than “my car is not functional” (left their laptop at home, for example), so this is especially annoying.

I'm a (relatively new) salaried, exempt employee and on January 1st I got 40 hours of paid medical leave (PML). I think I have a whole 16 hours of PTO now too. If I can't get my car fixed quickly, she's going to force me to drain that meager supply when I am fully willing and able to work remotely.

Is there anything I can do about this?
