I knew things were tight. But I didn’t know how bad things actually were. I just saw another post from this sub about living wages. So I googled it. Apparently living wage for a single adult in my area is about $16.15/hr. I make $14.50/hr. Why, Louisiana? We have a democratic governor. He has been in a state office position since 2008, and governor since 2016. Why hasn’t he done anything to fix this? State minimum wage is still $7.25. Considering that, I thought I was doing pretty good. I thought maybe I have a spending problem? A quick glance back over my finances showed that yea, I spend on myself here and there. But nothing major. I have so many responsibilities at work, I feel like I should make at least the bare living wage. $1.65 more an hour could be mean a world of difference for my future. I break even right now. With the extra money I would make, I could actually save for retirement. At this rate, I will work until I die.
