My current position requires a 4 weeks notice, which I submitted on 12/22/22. I work in health care and at this position for a year and 5 months, which I felt was an adequate amount of time especially with such low pay compared to other health systems in my area. Upon turning in my notice, I was brought into an office and yelled at, I was told I was ungrateful for giving up all the “opportunities” that they apparently supplied me. I was told I should have waited until after the holidays to submit my notice, yet this was the only opportunity I had to get the excessive 4 weeks notice started. They also went as far to say I was lying to them in the interview over a year and a half ago and that they took a real “risk” hiring me because I was a new grad. Funny, those concerns never came up and I was constantly praised for my performance while working there.
Ultimately, I was told I could just leave after 2 weeks and would still be marked as eligible for rehire. One of my managers then decides to not respond to any of my emails or even come into work in person to avoid me. I am 25F and she is 45F. On my last day, neither manager I am under showed up to work.
End of the story – if you have a feeling your workplace is toxic, your suspicions are probably right. I was never told that they were excited for me to pursue my career interests rather I was an ungrateful new brat who clearly ruined their lives.
