So my boss is trying to hire a new person and we are a small location. He is doing everything in him power to get me out of the place and off pay role while keeping me in the company.
Today he said that corporate doesn't have the budget to hire a new person and keep me on the pay role. The new person based on their position would be paid hire then me understandingly since their role would be manager position and taking on more responsibility. He told me today that he was talking to corporate about having or changing the budget to keep me and hire this new person but also mentioned there might be a chance to become a traveling person for my company.
So I'm wondering after of course doing my own dudilegence and considering all the options and seeing if there is potential for a high salary hourly or if I keep the same wages if I should take the offer to move around. The reason I'm hesitant to take it or say yes is cause one I still have to talk to our corporate executive manager and see if this is possible but it should be since he's the one who suggested it. secondly I have been with this place for a good year and about to get editional benefits with 401k and matching contribution ( which in my professional life never had) as well as a potential pay raise based on performance. I'm also hesitant because if I take this I won't have as much free time anymore to go hunt and fish, and other outdoor activities with my old man since I'll be on the move all the time as well as not being able to see my parents dogs as often as I would like.
Yes, I am aware if I want to move up I may have to make some sacrifices in life but where do I draw the line. So I guess I am looking for some guidance based on the current facts I have presented above and what some with more experience may think or say on the matter. One last thing based on previous post I am looking at other jobs and concidering going back to school or learning a new profession I'm the future or soon
