Getting sick of managers not managing.

I love having a job that isn’t anything too serious. If I have to work, I’d prefer it be fun or low stakes. With flu season in full swing we’ve been getting a lot of call outs, and people will write in the group chat to let the team know and to try to find coverage. The DM freaked out when she saw this, and demanded we all post our personal cell phone numbers so that we can text each other individually to find coverage. It is a courtesy for us to try to find our own coverage, but at the end of the day it is management’s job. One of my coworkers had to fight just to see a family member put to rest, they told to find coverage or they wouldn’t be allowed to go, despite bereavement policy allowing 4 days, and any shifts within that period being leave. A different person had it handled by management without a problem.

One of the supervisors recently said that when we call the store to call out we have to talk to a supervisor and go over our symptoms. I hate that they think we have to let them decide if we’re sick enough to miss work. They complain about staffing but cut hours. I’m just really getting sick of it. I missed a lot of work recently because of being practically bedridden and thankfully they don’t give me hell, but seeing them play favorites and pick and choose who to give a hard time really gets on my nerves. They need to step up and do their jobs, instead of being hands off sometimes and micromanaging other times. They don’t realize how many people are planning to leave very soon because they’re fed up.
