Required to work 9 hours, only getting paid for 7.88!

So I recently started a new job where I’m salaried and my contract says for 8.00 a day, M-F. My boss, however, is requiring me to work 9 hours a day, with an optional 30 minute lunch, which in my month here I’ve been able to take only twice because of workload. However, I just received an email from HR detailing my pay and it breaks down to 7.88 hours a day, M-F. I let my boss know that she’s requiring me to work 9 hours, but I’m only paid for 7.88, which I totaled in the email to be about $600 a month of free labor, to which she said “That’s just the way it works out.” Am I the idiot here!?
