working w/ undiagnosed disability

hello! i work at a private healthcare facility and i’ve had a couple instances of being late due to undiagnosed narcolepsy. i’ve had a visit with a pulmonologist but they said my issues were too complex and i needed to schedule a sleep study then see a more specialized pulmonologist. it’s going to be months before all this is completed, and i need something asap to tell HR, because i’m on my last strike. sometimes i sleep in past the start of my shift. im never scheduled to be the only person on my shift, so there’s always someone else, and i always call and show up as soon as i physically am able. i asked my boss what he wants me to do, he said i should Develop better sleep habits. i was recommended to schedule a talk with HR to explain myself & im hoping to build a…

i just need some temporary absences excused. not whole shift absences, just absences of less than an hour.
anyone have any advice on how to manage HR?
