I just learned at my job my boss requires my maintenance team to work on call for his business after hours. Unfortunately they don’t get paid for their time at all. The only thing is if it’s a call that could have been handled during normal business hours they get charged a fee that goes to the company owner and not the maintenance team who was dispatched. This feels wrong. They only get paid $15/hr during their regular shifts. I feel they should be compensated for being up all night.
