I am a construction superintendent manange commercial construction sites. I was working for a company for 3 years, the pay got me by but there came a point where I felt it wasn’t balancing out with the time I put in (salary) especially considering inflation.
So I started applying around (while still in my position) until I got hired with a new company that paid more, and gave me this whole a run around about how they are like a family etc. It seemed like it was going to be a great gig that I could work at long term.
I was working there about 2 months, they didn’t really have me doing a whole lot kind of bouncing around to different projects. I figured there was a job in the pipeline that I would take over soon. The company was moving into a new office space which was a few doors down from their existing office space. They had me managing the remodel. It was a small project with a few workers there at any given time.
Well today I was told to come to the office and meet with one of the owners, where I was told that it “wasn’t going to work out” I have no clue why??? In construction there can be major catastrophes, and a lot of seasoned supers have their own issues. But I don’t drink or smoke or have any relationship or legal issues. But I never even truly got to run a project.
The only info I got is that he didn’t “like how I carried myself”. Also the owners wife would regularly come by and she was completely absurd. She is very rude and was constantly hating on the space. She did not like that they were using this specific office space, rich guy wife thought they should be moving into something more luxury.
I’m completely paralyzed right now. I quit my job of 3 years which was very stable to go explore a new opportunity and now I’m screwed. I have never left a job without having a new one lined up.
