Why don’t we just create a religion to fight the injustices?

The title might sound a little weird as a solution to my problem but the thought occurred to me today, so I have to ask. At my job in manufacturing, we are often asked to pull unpaid overtime to finish up tasks and meet deadlines. I’m usually good to work a little over my 8 hours if I can finish up that particular task I’m working on and call it a day. But that’s where the problem starts when it comes to manufacturing and the deadlines that management agrees on. Finishing up your task is never the end of your day, because the question will inevitably be asked, “Why didn’t you stay longer to finish the entire job?” Now to my current problem. Production is slowed down right now due to some supply chain issues (read as incompetence). Due to this and our upcoming deadline, my boss is threatening that…

Finishing up your task is never the end of your day, because the question will inevitably be asked, “Why didn’t you stay longer to finish the entire job?”

Now to my current problem. Production is slowed down right now due to some supply chain issues (read as incompetence). Due to this and our upcoming deadline, my boss is threatening that I will start being required to work 14 days on with 1 day off for the foreseeable future. This tends to be an issue for me as I am a salaried employee and like having a life outside of work. The only problem is that it’s pretty hard to fight this without losing my job.

So for a solution I thought, why can’t there be a religion that claims the weekends as days of rest? It would allow anyone who follows said religion an out for any unpaid “mandatory” overtime on weekends. As a follower you’d be unable to be forced in to work because there are quite a few laws protecting religious freedoms in most countries.

It doesn’t even have to end with working on the weekends. Since we are just making up tenets of the religion, you could say that any unpaid work is forbidden.

Obviously I know that this poses some problems for other religions, since you are only supposed to follow that religion. But honestly as a quick get out of jail card, it doesn’t seem that bad.

If it needs a holy text it could just be a comic strip of Garfield saying, “I hate Mondays.”

Let me know if y’all have any other “commandments” that would help to fight our capitalist overlords.

TLDR: Why is there not a religion to protect workers? You can make up the rules as you go
