I'm currently working for a company that pays hourly, but they have a “no unpaid time-off policy.” The job is work from home, and with the exception of these types of policies and the useless management, it is bearable.
Our company combines sick and PTO into one-time bank, and they refuse to let you take time off without using hours from the bank. I'm currently planning on moving to an unfurnished apartment in another state, and I am being asked to coordinate this process on my weekend to avoid interruptions. My boss wants me to go into negative PTO in order to take time off, but I'd rather not force myself as an hourly employee into a quasi indentured servant style agreement just to have a week off from work.
I am moving from the state of MA to PA. Does anybody know if there are any unemployment benefits I can qualify for if they decide to fire me for putting my foot down on this ridiculous timeoff policy?
