I work in a small office, let's say most works are project based. We're less than 20 strong including the boss and second boss.
He has escalated micromanaging these past few weeks. Now every project is time logged to the minute. We must do status report every few hours and every midday and noon. We also must make sure to not use the wording “wrong” “right” or “correct” “false” or “finished” in his presence cause then he'll go on a tirade about it.
He has screamed at us at the top of his lung and called us names.
I then realised why all of my predecessors didn't last a year in my position… every single one of them couldn't stand it either.
When I came in there were talks of them wanting to quit but nobody actually quits at all.
So I let the poison brew.
Gossiped about the boss being unfair, the unrealistic work expectation, I connected the dots so everybody understands that we're all on the same page.
Then it happened. One quit and then another.
We're talking people who just joined like me and a 10 year long veteran senior quitting.
My job is done here, I can't stand it anymore either.
So I'm quitting too.
3 of my coworkers will follow as soon as they secure work as well.
The replacement boss hired has less experience than we do and they're scrambling to keep up with the job my former coworkers left behind cause they didn't get trained at all.
May they also realise it's not worth it working here and quit too.
Spread the poison, discuss your wages, gossip about the name calling. Quit in masses. It'll make a difference.
