After 7 years I’m suddenly not entitled to a bonus that’s included in my contract?

Received an email this morning that since my role doesn't “have a direct and material impact on our income statement”, I no longer qualify to receive the yearly bonus that is part of the hiring contract I signed in 2016. I know absolutely nothing about employment law, but to me, it doesn't feel right that they can just make changes to a contract without consent. Aren't contracts legally binding? Background info – I am Canadian, working in Canada for a Canadian company owned by a larger American company.
