Recent stories of how you one-upped a company or employer? I’ll start…

My last employer was paying for my Master's Degree, which was one of the reasons I was with them up until that point. The work culture became so toxic, that one day when I just came back from vacation, the general manager and two supervisors crowded me in a small room and tried to literally bully me. I quit right then and there. Multiple calls to HR? Nothing. Multiple calls to my union representatives? s*** out of luck. A week later, HR guy calls me and tells me that I need to pay back 60% of the master's degree that they had paid for. Now this was just the first year of the MBA. A week later, HR guy calls me and tells me that I need to pay back 60% of the master's degree that they had paid for. Now this was just the first year of the MBA. I told him that I would have to look at the paperwork that I signed originally, aka the contract, to see where it stated that I owed money back. He emails it to me. The thing was not written very well, and the kicker was that I never freaking signed it!

He calls me back and asks if I'm ready to pay, about a few days later. I tell him that I don't see my signature on their paperwork. I asked him if they have a signed version of the contract, and he says that he'll get back to me. Well literally the next day he calls and says something along the lines of “hey man you're unemployed right now and we feel bad so we're going to waive the fees”. LOL. Waive the fees? You know that my signature missing from that contract means there is no contract. They were paying for my masters the entire time, and f*** themselves into a legal corner.

To this day, my sadistic ass still smiles at that memory, especially after a long hard day. I feel proud of it.

Let's hear em!
