So i live in Ohio and I work at a seasonal landscaping job. I mow in the summer and I do snow removal in the winter. I'm full time in the summer but I get laid off in the winter. He has us do unemployment and they make me search for work, but I'm on call for the landscaping job and I can't really take another job. So i fear that unemployment is going to get me in trouble. My wife and I also get food stamps and yet had me doing with searches that I had to interview the jobs I applied for but again, my job wants me on call and available 25/8. I don't want to get in trouble and I owe unemployment 600 dollars that I don't have and have been threatened to be sanctioned. My boss keeps all my hrs logged and pays me out in the spring in one big check and I try to collect unemployment all winter. I've always felt weird about it but everyone else at my company seems fine.
