The post about the mushroom socks reminded me of when I worked for the store with a “that was easy” button. I used to wear funky, mismatching socks to work every day, you couldn’t see them because my pants were long enough. I was friends with my manager and showed him one day. He thought it was hilarious and asked to see them everyday and we used to laugh about what ridiculous socks I was wearing. One day he asked in front of another manager and said, “Don’t worry, Jody is cool.” so I showed them and went about my day. My review comes around and Jody was doing it, when it came to my uniform conformity she docked me for not wearing black socks! Oh yeah, Jody’s cool. She was quietly fired for stealing a few months later but good thing she kept my raise to 10 cents an hour instead of 15!
