As the title reads.
For context I am an assistant chef in Boston and went into my job this morning after being out for a week with COVID. I was never given a reason as to why I was being fired other than “we're moving in another direction.” I have never shown up late and have worked my 12 -13 hour a day shifts without complaint and bonded with all my employees. I did my duties working alongside the chef and was constantly praised for my good work. Our chef has been away for two weeks on vacation and I was out one week so I haven't seen him in three weeks. The owner demanded I be let go. I asked if it was COVID related and they denied it and could only offer me the explanation that they “are moving in a new direction.” Oh and they fired my girlfriend a week prior without offering her any explanation either.
Just wanted to share my story and see what everyone thinks. Do I have a case to file a lawsuit against them? Thanks all for anyone who reads
