Ok so this actually happened a few years back when I was in the process of interviewing for a server/bartender position at an Outback Steakhouse. I didn’t end up taking the job but a post from another redditor in here about their job wanting all the workers to turn in their phones before clocking in made me think of it.
I applied for a job at Outback Steakhouse and the manager informed
me that they had a very strict “no phones” policy and that they would occasionally search employees pockets to make sure they didn’t have their phone with them.
Part of the “training” for the job was this online course narrated by this goofy computer character that was several hours long and unpaid. It was very similar to a driving course you would get if you got a ticket while driving. There was a timer and the program would spew out a bunch of nonsense with a timer and you just had to sit there and watch it.
I imagine there was some sort of test at the end but I didn’t make it that far before I sent them an email and told them they are batshit crazy if they think they will at any point search me for my phone.
