The company I work for initially told us that this upcoming Friday was going to be a half day and we could all leave around noon 1pm. This morning we got an email saying that we are now being forced to attend a “mandatory potluck to build community in the office” (the boss here sucks ass and is always pissing people off but blames us) and that if we didn’t want to attend, we are required to use PTO. Can my boss legally do this? Can they forcefully make us attend this potluck crap and force us to use PTO if we don’t want to? I had already made plans for the rest of the day on the house I am fixing up.
