Okay so boss not boss, they’re the owner of the school where I work.
When I applied I had seven rounds of interviews to go through, this felt extreme but I figured it was to make sure the employees had a say in the matter of a new teacher ( we are a small school only a few teachers in total). I’ve been at my school for a year now and was talking to a coworker about the interview process and how at the time so many interviews were stressful and time consuming. They let me know that’s not how hiring normally is and the reason I differed was because my owner didn’t like that I wasn’t religious.
This kind of shocked me, I felt hurt and defensive and weird. I learned that I’m mad that he didn’t care about who I was as a person and that my team lead had to fight for me during hiring process. And that the reason my owner wouldn’t hire someone is because of their religious and spiritual choices. (Also it’s not a religious school) . So yeah am I being too sensitive or is it kinda fucked up?
Also the owner of my school doesn’t work at my school so they don’t really have an idea what goes on in and outside of the classroom.
