So, I got my W2 today and looked at my federal taxes withheld. Unusually small considering what I thought I made.
Started going through my paystubs week by week. My employer only took federal taxes out of 14 of my 26 paychecks. 12 paychecks had no federal taxes taken out. Every other check after 5/13/2022 there was no taxes taken out.
Went through 2021 paystubs and had 3 paystubs (6 weeks) of no taxes taken out.
Social security and medicaid still came out of every check.
I never changed my W4 or anything. I'm afraid I'll end up owing taxes now, which I've never done.
What can I do to my employer for not taking enough federal taxes out every other paycheck? Any recourse? This just seems kind of odd. Every other paycheck.
No, I didn't notice it during the year because I get a lot of overtime so my paychecks are never the same.
