I have worked at my current place of employment for the last 16 months, and back in October, I was promised a promotion on the 1st of the year to a management role. The only thing that had to be done was a new job description and list of responsibilities for the role which was to be done by my AGM. This lady is nothing short of useless and passes all of her responsibilities onto me while she flirts with our bar supervisor and watches football. After inquiring about to promotion after the holiday season and being told that the budget was approved but they were still waiting on the AGM to do the job description and list of responsibilities after all this time, I decided to find my own promotion. Cue working my wage and refusing to do anything outside of my current job description. I was told “this can severely impact your promotion and can cause documentation”. OK, do it.
I interviewed yesterday at another hotel that has good reviews, benefits, and a management role that I was supposed to get. I got the call today with the job offer and accepted it right there on the spot. I am excited to start this role and stand up for my new crew, both to my management team and guests alike.
This is where I ask your help, as I am conflicted. Do I quit without notice or do I provide a notice to my current job and work the 2 weeks? Please let me know what you think and why.
