Like back then you had autistic men, boring, plain, or even men with questionable political views who easily got jobs. But now you have to be “charming” “interesting” or have lots of hobbies. Like why the fuck does the interviewer care what I do in my free time? I could take a bath in spaghetti in my spare time for all it matters. As long as I can show up for the job that's all that matters.
Like a lot of H.R hire based on “gut” Well what if I said I have a “gut” feeling black people commit crimes. People would rightfully think I was a disgusting bigot but it seems H.R can legally get away with similar assumptions like this especially towards autistic people. (80% of autistics are unemployed. My grandfather most likely had high-functioning aspergers YET he was gainfully employed).
-my guess was society went from “needs” based economy to a “wants” based economy. In the olden days society NEEDED labor did not matter if you were autistic, weird, ugly, or even held questionable political views as long as you showed up/completed the job etc. However as society got wealthier, it switched from a NEEDS based economy to a WANTS based economy. Society NEEDS people to stock grocery stores. However some rich pot-bellied balding manager who has not got laid in god knows how many years WANTS a petite blonde to stock shelves rather than a hard-working African American woman who is just as qualified but does not meet the racist Eurocentric beauty standards.
