I notice that with a few exceptions (Harold and Kumar, Cheech and Chong) this is the “accepted” archetype for those types of movies. I feel like it says a lot about who we “give permission” to slack, and I'm considering trying to write something in the genre with a completely new archetype.
For now, I'm trying to study what's out there.
