Breaks Disallowed

I work in a retail store, primarily in the evening due to still being in school. Majority of shifts I have are 4-10, with a decent amount of 6-10’s thrown in. I’m not sure if it’s a law, or company policy, but for a shift of 4 hours or more, we’ve always been given a 15 minute paid break. If the shift exceeds 6 hours, we have a 30-60 minute unpaid lunch. Our store hours are 8am-9pm, and while we close at 9 we stay until shelves are faced and cleaning is done. Recently, our manager announced that 6-10 shifts are no longer allowed to have a 15, since we aren’t always there the full 4 hours. I wanted the community’s thoughts, and/or ideas on Malicious compliance
