Hello all I would like to explain my situation abit and would like to know how I should proceed? I recently got transferred into a different worksite with the same company that I've been working for more than 2 years. It's an hourly job and the new site has been really going well for me as the hours are really good with my college schedule. The company also pays for my tuition. However, last week I needed to get train to do my job at a different site for half of a day per my manager. So I agreed to travel. The other site is only about 45 mins away. He said he would fix my time…

However, my manager told me to clock out before I leave the building so that the company doesn't have to be responsible in case I were get into accident or something while traveling. The other site is only about 45 mins away. He said he would fix my time and he did do it. And I got the full 8 hours for that day. But still my question is can the company do that? Is it legal? The way he said company won't take responsibility was kinda mean as well. To make me drive for job reason while clocking out but won't take responsibility just in case I were to get into accident? I just felt like my manager doesn't know what he is talking about. However I would like to keep this job till I finish my college classes so I also don't want to be in conflict with my supervisor. How should I go about this? Many thanks in advance.
