My husband is an industrial maintenance mechanic. He works at a manufacturing plant
In a meeting in November, HR told them that they were getting a raise of 4%. My husband asked if they were also going to get a cost of living raise because inflation at the time was 7.1%.
Hr immediately got short with him and told him “You're not gonna get anymore than what we give you.”
The next scheduled day my husband was sent for a random drug test.
Something similar has happened to him before. He pissed off his manager at the time and was sent for a 'random' drug test shortly after.
He has a coworker that has worked there for 5 years and has bever been randomly drug tested. He's also been told that when previous people had worked there they had also spoken up/out in meetings and have been drug tested several months in a row.
Does anybody know what his rights are here? Or what we would need to do documentation wise if he was to complain?
He is tempted to go to Corporate but if he does it'll fall right back down to his plant.
We live in the US. Arkansas specifically.
I'm trying to keep this as vague as possible because obviously he's getting to avoid retaliation.
