I’m about to enter third-round interviews for a data analyst job, and HR just called to tell me that, although my final interview is moving forward, the position is now for a senior role and I should check out the updated job description.
Requirements are now much more extensive – I wouldn’t apply to the job as currently advertised because it’s so far beyond my skills and experience level. What does this mean? Why are they still interviewing me if they want a more experienced candidate?
I feel blindsided, but also like maybe it’s a good thing if I’m still interviewing – like perhaps I could ask for more money? Any thoughts appreciated, I’m not sure what to think.
