Ive been working at a non union rigging and heavy haul company for a little over a year. I liked it a lot honestly, liked a few of my co workers, but the company sucked and the negativity/man babies were awful, even for construction sake. I finally got a new job with a union crane company, amazing environment and benefits. Everything is perfect and I have a good shot at a solid career there, possibly making $200k which I would never make where im at.
The new company asked if I wanted to start asap or give notice, and they said they understood I wanted to give 2 weeks but if anything changed please let them know as they really need help. I told my current job I was giving my notice and they took it okay, but I've been shafted on hours. We usually started at 6am and they put me at 8am yesterday and today. I wasn't even assigned a job and instead was supposed to “find busy work” in the yard which means nothing and I left yesterday at noon. Then last night my dispatcher never even told me I was in at 8am even though I texted him twice and he called me this morning asking where I was and I said not coming in you didn't give me a time.
I already asked the new job if I could start Monday instead of next Monday and they were thrilled. I hadn't told my boss yet but he just texted me saying im working on a shitty job outside with a crew that I don't like, when its going to be negative 9 degrees.
How do I just tell them im done? I wanted to not burn a bridge but I can't bring myself to come in. I was going to call out tomorrow (3rd time this week) and then that should be the last 3 days of PTO I had in the bank. Any ideas?
