I quit my job of 8 months and the manager told me “so everything we invested in you went down the drain”.
Wtf? You didn't invest shit, you only paid my salary on time and took half of my tips.
It's true that when I was hired I went through a 2 week training period during which I was paid normally, that I can call an investment, but I bet it was returned several times. Besides, the training, while good props to my teacher, was rushed, most of what I learned I learned from other, more experience colleagues who had the patience to put up with my mistakes and answer my questions. They invest effort and nerves into me, the people who technically speaking had no obligation to teach me anything.
So, I'm asking you, what does investing in an employee mean? Because in my book paying salaries on time is not “investing”
