“We do not allow pay discussion”

I’m going to start a new job next week, and I just got a list of a bunch of (mostly BS) rules. The one that stuck out to me the most was that “we do NOT talk about pay rates in our store with other employees as to not cause animosity.” This is unlawful, and I don’t see how they will enforce this besides finding some other reason to fire you. What are you actually supposed to do in this situation? The amount being paid seems to vary with vague guidelines of “what you bring to the table”. Starting pay is a bit above minimum wage, and this is just something I need to pay the bills until I get a job in my degree’s field. I don’t want to cause trouble, but it sure as hell doesn’t sit right with me.
