Bf’s Boss Disrespects Him, Bf Gets Last Laugh

So, this story is about my Bf, who for this sake, we'll call Alex, his boss which will be called DB (for dbag), and 4 different coworkers of his, Brian, Connor, Greg, and, Oliver. I used to work with my BF and had the same boss while there (we were not dating at the time and I worked there under DB for 3 years) so I know that the story he's told is true. Alex works a rotating 12 hour shift, where this week he worked Sunday, Wednesday and Thursday – which is relevant. Last Wednesday, DB had sent Alex and their crew an email, telling them that DB is going to start cross training them on receiving product in because the receiving team is nonexistent there.

Well, by the end of Wednesday, Alex had typed an email to the extent of “I don't mind doing it but I have two stipulations, 1. you cannot change my schedule on short notice because I enjoy my freedom and 2., I am going to need monetary incentive in order to partake in going beyond my work duties.” Alex didn't send the message because he felt it was too snarky and didn't want to come off that way, and figured it'd be a conversation he would have in person. Yesterday morning, before their daily meeting, DB comes over to Alex and goes “Alex, I need you to open your email and search my name.” Alex said, “If this is regarding your email, I saw it and typed a response but when I read it out I realized it was too snarky and didn't send it.” DB then says “When I message you, whether that's through email, text or teams, you need to answer me.” Alex responded, “I don't need to answer you when I'm not at work, I'm not salaried.” DB then says “for that, I'm not going to be training you for the receiving role,” then walked away. Connor then turned to Alex and said “I don't know how you didn't deck the guy…” Alex said “I wanted to but I need to keep the job.”

An hour later at their meeting, DB said that he will be training Brian that day and Greg chimed in, “oh but Alex was willing to learn” and DB says “we discussed it already.” Even though the conversation earlier was all they had spoken about it. So, Brian goes into training all day, and doesn't get back until 4:50pm. DB then calls to their department and Alex saw it. He said that he was not going to answer so Greg picks up the phone and says “yeah he's back here.” Alex shoots Greg a look and pointed to himself mouthing “I'm not back here” Greg mouthed back “no, he wants Brian” then gives the phone to Brian. Turns out, their backup receiver, Oliver, has today off and DB needed a receiving person to come in to take Oliver's place. Brian said “Sorry DB but, my cousin has terminal cancer and lives a couple hours away, we are going to leave first thing in the morning so I cant come in” there was a long pause before DB wished him well and hung up. Alex was silently laughing in the background because of DB's poor planning and karmic justice.
