I think this is quite dangerous.
For context, mechanics are paid per task not for hours present but the real problem aside from wasting my time is that if something happened and I needed help, the dealership is closed Sunday so nobody would find me until Monday.
Service department closes at 4 on Saturday. New/used car sales closes at 6. The same two mechanics are picked to alternately stay until 6. Manager refuses to communicate what the purpose of having a tech after hours is for now that sales sends state inspections off-site. We think it’s just to pick on those 2 techs bc there’s 2 others with state license that are never scheduled. That whole side of the dealership shuts down at 4. Nobody walks through the garage and I have been locked in before via gates because nobody knew someone was still in service.
About his text, The day prior I did leave 30mins early just like every other flag tech does when there’s no work. He went home before me and I think one of the SAs text him I left. (Im not tasked with customer cars, just internals)
