Context:
I work as a web developer on a probationary status along with 4 other people.
We assist on several projects by doing smaller tasks. Supervisors allowed us to pick tasks that we can do but told us to check priority of these tasks before selecting.
They also explicitly told us to assess first whether we can do these tasks on the estimated time before assigning to ourselves.
So it must be a balance of PRIORITY AND if we can finish on the estimated time they put there.
We also have to report the tasks we took in a work group chat and inform the Task ID so it is easier for our supervisors to check.
Then we have this coworker who complained in the Team's work gc.
Please do not pick the tasks you find easy for the sake of doing more tasks. Tasks that was put from 5 hours ago were being taken than tasks that were assigned 8 hours ago
I feel a little annoyed at his statement.
First of all, why are you telling us what to do? You are not the manager and the supervisors told us we can choose and assess if we can handle the tasks.
Second, you already saw the older Tasks yet you did not take it yourself. I saw in the gc where we report task IDs that he did easier tasks himself before he complained in the gc. Which means he is cherry picking his tasks as well.
Why are you such a hypocrite?
Of course, I didn't say anything. We just reacted thumbs up on his message. Then minded my own tasks. Why can't he mind his own tasks?
I wonder if he is the kind of dude who is a kiss-ass and who wants to look good at the supervisors.
I am able to handle several complex tasks myself and I know my performance in this company is good.
Our boss already advanced me to regularization and I am no longer a probationary employee
