I started work at my current employer a year ago this month. I was a temp for the first three months, and then hired on fully. I then had to wait another SIX MONTHS to receive and pto at all, and then received 40 hours. I figured I would hoard it all and take a one week vacation at some point. Unfortunately ALL of your missed work comes out of your pto no matter what, because my employer “doesn’t offer unpaid time off”. So because I got sick for two days early in the year, I now only have 3 days to last me another nine months until they give me another 40 hours. I had a vacation planned that I might have to scrap now, and pto policies like this are why I haven’t seen my parents in over a year.
