I’ll try to make it short. I work for a pretty successful family business. My colleagues and I have been told the business is closing down in 4 weeks because the owners feel they have enough money to live comfortably off and don’t want to work anymore (the two parents and their lazy-ass son that never lifted a finger anyway).
This was a complete shock, even they admit it’s quite impulsive. But “we figured, why not!? Hahaha” … I can think of several reasons..
No succession plan, no one to take over. So we all lose our jobs because they can’t be bothered anymore, bless ‘em.
And don’t get me wrong, I’d stop working too if I had the chance. But if other people were relying on me for their livelihood I wouldn’t leave until I knew they were taken care of.
They really just don’t give a shit. Complete obliviousness, callous disregard for the effect their actions have on others. They’re actually planning an office party to celebrate… We’re going to be unemployed, why would we want to celebrate?
Well good luck maintaining you’re current standard of living in this economic climate dickheads! That’s all I can say.
