If everyone knows already which majors are useless and can’t get you a job, why do people still take them?

So I’ll be starting college later this year, and I’m curious what the mindset is for some people. I’m first gen in the US, and first gen to go to college, so to me, it’s about making money and reaching 100k+ salary. So I don’t understand why if you know that some majors will leave you without a good job and a bunch of debt, why would you do it? I’ve just been wondering after reading so many comments on the college related posts
