Hi, I was laid off this week while on short term disability for a wrist injury I'll likely need surgery to correct (torn TFCC). The lay off was the result of budget cuts and business restructuring.
With the accumulating medical bills, I'm struggling to keep up. My severance is only enough to cover surgery copay + MRI. My question is:
Has anyone been through this kind of situation where you can't apply for jobs bc you aren't physically able?
Is there a workaround for applying to unemployment? I read you must be physically able to work in order to qualify.
What have you done/found as meanial sources of income?
It doesn't seem that disability is an option since the injury won't last over a year. Is there an option for people in this position other than being unemployed and without income?
