Okay so I’m based in Australia and I work for a company where we have what are called ‘clinic runs’ where we deliver stock and paperwork for the treatments we do. When I got the job having a vehicle and license was a requirement.
Unfortunately right after Christmas my engine intake bit it and it’s going to cost $1200 to fix/replace. I haven’t got that kind of money lying around as things have some up unexpectedly that I’ve needed to pay for (cats cremation, debts, bills etc) and I’m even trying to sell my belongings to get the money together.
Now I work my ass off for the company, managing nurses, appointments, other patient services staff and doing the compliance side of things which was heaped onto me and I’ve had 30mins of training for.
According to my boss not having a car to do clinic runs is effecting the business because I can’t move stock and paperwork around. I don’t understand why they don’t just order stock to each clinic!
My questions is: if having a car and license was a requirement for the job, can I be fired for not having a working vehicle to do clinic runs?
